Connect rate is the percentage of dials that reach a live person. If a rep makes 100 dials and 8 reach a human, the connect rate is 8 percent. It is one of the most important outbound metrics because most dials never connect, so improving it directly increases conversations.
Cold-calling connect rates are typically single digits, which is why volume tooling exists. The levers that move it are number reputation, local presence, calling at the right times, and clean data.
On a usage-based platform, connect rate also drives cost: dials that never connect are free, so you only pay for the conversations that actually happen.
